United We Stand – A Poem

You may have brought us to our knees
but you’ll never take away
what makes us who we are
or our hopes and dreams

Our spirit united stands
and when one stumbles
they’ll reach out
and find a willing hand

Because love is stronger
than your bonds of fear
we’ll break through these chains
and in the end you’ll hear

Freedom will ring out
strength from within
my fellow man and me
the power of our hearts
and souls in unity

Someday we’ll look back and see
that though our backs
were against the wall
we came together
and refused to fall
