Please Lie to Me – A Poem

Please lie to me
don’t tell me the truth
tell me only
what I want to hear
tales of happily ever after

Assure me
that hope is not a fool’s wish
and that dreams do come true
calm the doubt that begs to overwhelm
help me pick a star to wish on

Let in
my old friend, Denial
push away Reality for another day
tell me everything will be ok

Please lie to me
