Marvel teams up with Netflix on 5 new superhero shows

I’m such a geek for all things superhero. So, this little tidbit that I found on Twitter, this morning, has my nerd sense tingling.

Marvel Comics is teaming up with Netflix to bring four new live-action series and one mini-series to the streaming service, starting in 2015. The characters highlighted in the series include Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders.

According to the article,

…the epic will unfold over multiple years of original programming, taking Netflix members deep into the gritty world of heroes and villains of Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Netflix has committed to a minimum of four, thirteen episodes series and a culminating Marvel’s “The Defenders” mini-series event that reimagines a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.

Considering Disney also just signed an exclusivity agreement with Netflix involving Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm movies, it looks like I picked a good time to renew my Netflix service.

Now, all I need is for Disney to buy DC Comics and create a superhero-based theme park that features heroes from both the Marvel and DC universes. If that ever happened, I would probably take up residence.
