Love Returned – A Poem

I’d given up on love
not daring to believe
All the love I’d given
never to receive
I wasn’t looking for what I found
I’d resolved to be lonely
forever bound
Heaven opened and I watched you descend
on angels’ wings
a message to send
A message of unconditional love
You were sent from God above
You restored my faith
with just one touch
I never realized
one could love this much
You kissed away all the tears I wept
I’m eternally in your debt
I say a prayer
of thanks each night
for being blessed
with your endless light
You’ve taught me
the most important lesson I’ve ever learned
You’ve shown me
what it feels like to have…
Love Returned
