Looking Forward to New Hellos – A Poem

We shared a look
we shared a touch
lasting memories we took
I miss you so much
we exchanged a glance
we stole a kiss
how could just one dance
make my heart ache like this?
I see your face when I close my eyes
I still taste the tears in our goodbyes
this love that I’m sending grows stronger with every mile
I know it will reach you and bring you a smile
God watch over you and keep you safe from harm
’til I can once again cradle you in my arms
with each day that passes, my love for you grows
so I’ll try not to dwell on goodbye
instead, I’ll look forward to new hellos
