How? – A Poem

How do you stop seeing their face every time you close your eyes?

How do you stop picturing where you were and what you were doing with them every time you hear a song?

How do you stop waking up in the middle of the night only to have your heart break at the empty space beside you in bed?

How do you stop wondering what they’re doing right now?

How do you ever look at anything the same way again?

How do you stop pinning your hopes on wishes?

How do you stop the what ifs?

How do you stop the tears?
