Broken – A Poem

Betrayed by the one who was closest to me
My love for you made me too blind to see
Now you’ve twisted the knife, the bridge has been burned
It’s a painful lesson I never wanted to learn

I’m broken
You’ve beaten me down
You left me
Alone to drown
I don’t want to feel
I cannot think
The more that I try
The deeper I sink
I’m broken

Just one more day and then I’ll be strong
I keep telling myself but I know I am wrong
This pain will never die no matter how hard I fight
I’m so tired and numb that I can’t see the light

I’m broken
You’ve beaten me down
You left me
Alone to drown
I don’t want to feel
I cannot think
The more that I try
The deeper I sink
I’m broken

The deepest wounds are caused by things unspoken
Your actions spoke much louder than your words
Now I’m broken

I’m broken
I’m broken
You’ve beaten me down
I’m broken
I’m broken
Why did you let me down?

I’m broken

This one started out as a poem. I added a chorus and made it a song, instead. I have written a little of the music for it. Maybe someday I’ll even finish it. =)
