3 things about Ratchet and Clank’s Bella Thorne

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to be part of a Q & A session with the director and cast of the new Ratchet and Clank movie. Here are three things I learned about the voice of Cora, the very funny and charismatic Bella Thorne.
Bella Thorne

Bella Thorne had fun being a badass

Q: What the most fun part of doing the voice of Cora?

A: The most fun about it was probably playing a bad ass female.

When I walked in, [director Kevin Munroe] was like, “You can just use your dark voice. Yeah, you can even go deeper.” And I was like – no. No, no, no, I sound like a man, guys. We don’t want people to think that a man is actually Cora.

The most fun part was probably getting to stress my personality to its limits, just because I wasn’t playing so different of a character from me.

Bella Thorne’s love of the creative process goes beyond acting

Q: When are you going to write and direct your own film?

A: Actually, my goal was to have my first self-directed short film premiere at South By Southwest next year, and hopefully some other festivals.

I love the creative process. [Cora] was already created when I came in, and stepped foot inside her. That was fun and interesting. But I would love to do some more live action animation, where I actually get to go behind the scenes and literally create this character, because anything behind the scenes, to me, is just so cool.

I’m never in my trailer. I’m always right behind the director, seeing what he’s doing. They probably think I’m annoying.

Bella Thorne has a strong support system

Q: Bella, you are so busy. How are you able to balance everything that you do?

A: Ppppphhhhhh. I guess you’d have to ask my manager’s assistant, Joey, because I don’t know. I don’t know how he puts it in the schedule, to be completely honest.

I have a goals list that I just started on my phone, which is pretty cool. And I’m just trying to do everything.

I make personal time for myself when I’m on sets, which is good. I’ll be on set, but then I’ll have a buddy come by and spend time with me while I’m on set. So that’s kind of how I balance my personal relationships a bit more.

I just want to do everything; more directing and writing, specifically.

A big thank you to Bella Thorne for sitting down with us! Be sure to check out her Autumn Falls book series (I told you her creativity runs deep).

Ratchet and Clank opens nationwide on April 29th!

Note: Although I didn’t change any of Bella’s answers, I did condense some of them for readability.
